How to convert weight
Enter the amount, choose the starting unit and destination unit, and the result updates locally.
The Pounds and ounces result always shows the same input as whole pounds plus remaining ounces, regardless of your selected destination unit. You can use kilograms, grams, milligrams, pounds, ounces, or stone as the starting unit.
Kilograms to pounds and ounces examples
- 1 kg → 2 lb 3.27 oz
- 10 kg → 22 lb 0.74 oz
- 0.45359237 kg → 1 lb 0.00 oz
Decimal pounds and pounds plus ounces are different ways to express the same weight. For example, 3.5 lb means 3 lb 8.00 oz, because half a pound is 8 ounces.
Conversion factors
Values are normalized through kilograms. One pound is exactly 0.45359237 kilogram and contains 16 ounces. These are avoirdupois units, not the troy ounces used for precious metals.
The combined result rounds total ounces to the nearest hundredth, then splits them into pounds and ounces. Rounding that reaches 16 ounces carries into the pound total. For negative values, each nonzero component has a minus sign.
Privacy and limits
No input is transmitted. Results use standard floating-point arithmetic, so extremely long decimal expansions are rounded for display. Values smaller than 0.005 oz in magnitude round to zero in the combined result. If a value is too large to round reliably to 0.01 oz, that result shows a limit message while the single-unit conversion remains available when finite.
