How to use the URL encoder and decoder

Paste text, a query value, or encoded URL text. Use Encode URL component for values that will be placed inside a query string or path segment. Use one of the decode modes to turn percent escapes back into readable text.

The decoded result is plain text. MyTool0 does not open decoded links, follow redirects, fetch pages, or check whether a destination is safe.

Common URL encoding cases

  • Spaces become %20.
  • Reserved characters such as &, =, /, and ? are escaped when encoding a component.
  • Unicode characters are encoded as UTF-8 percent escapes.
  • Malformed percent sequences produce an error instead of a partial, misleading result.

Privacy and limits

The URL text stays in the current browser tab. MyTool0 does not upload the input, output, or full URL to analytics.

Use this tool for snippets and query values. It is not a link scanner, redirect checker, or security validator.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does the tool open decoded URLs?

No. The result is shown as plain text only, so a decoded link is never opened automatically.

Should I encode a full URL or just a component?

Most form values and query parameters should use component encoding. Full URL handling is mainly for decoding readable URL text.

Why can decoding fail?

Decoding fails when percent escapes are malformed, incomplete, or represent invalid encoded text.
