Base64 is handled as UTF-8 text.

Private by default

This tool processes your input in the current browser tab and does not upload it for processing.

How to use the Base64 encoder and decoder

Paste text and choose Encode text to Base64 to create a Base64 string. Paste Base64 and choose Decode Base64 to text to convert it back to UTF-8 text.

The decoder accepts common whitespace around Base64 blocks. If the input is not valid standard Base64, or if the decoded bytes are not valid UTF-8 text, the tool shows a recoverable error.

When Base64 is useful

Base64 is useful when binary-safe text is required, such as small test payloads, data URLs, configuration examples, or API experiments. It increases size, so it is not a compression method.

Privacy and limits

The text and Base64 value stay in the current browser tab. MyTool0 does not upload the input, generated output, or clipboard content.

This tool is for text snippets. Very large values can be slow to copy or render, and file workflows should use dedicated file tools.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does Base64 encrypt my text?

No. Base64 is an encoding format, not encryption. Anyone can decode it if they have the Base64 string.

Does this support Unicode text?

Yes. The tool encodes and decodes text as UTF-8, so common Unicode characters and emoji can round-trip correctly.

Can I encode files here?

No. This version is for text values only. File-based Base64 handling needs separate limits and file privacy controls.
